Long Island University (LIU) was founded in 1926 in Brooklyn, N.Y., under the guiding principle of educating and empowering men and women from all walks of life. LIU has grown into one of the nation’s largest private Universities, and remains committed to the educational needs and interests of its diverse student body. LIU offers more than 500 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs and certificates, educating more than 20,000 students each year across multiple campuses. The University continuously strives to cultivate and expand academic, professional, artistic, and co-curricular opportunities.
Brooklyn is one of the hottest neighborhoods in New York City, and LIU Brooklyn is right in the heart of it all—located steps away from the Barclays Center and the hip restaurants, cafés, and boutiques of Fort Greene. Our beautifully landscaped 11-acre campus—ranked the third-safest in the nation and the safest in New York City by The Daily Beast—offers easy access to the rich professional opportunities and resources of Manhattan. Our students have intern at top companies—from Marvel Comics to The New York Stock Exchange to NBC Universal.
Participate in LIU’s English Language Institute, a program for non-native English speakers that helps you meet university requirements, and develop your skills in conversation, reading, writing, and grammar. LIU provides free tutoring in all areas of study, and ongoing English language support after you complete the program.
